The Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) is the professional organization for Michigan mathematics educators at any grade level, pre-K through college. As an advocate for excellence in mathematics education for all children, our members also include interested community members, pre-service mathematics teachers, and retired educators. MCTM members can be found teaching in local classrooms, serving as school building and district administrators, and working as mathematics coaches and curriculum specialists. We are teaching (and attending) college classes, working in ISDs (Intermediate School Districts), writing local and state curriculum, creating and evaluating local and state assessments, and serving in the Michigan mathematics and science centers. MCTM works closely with the Michigan Department of Education and its Office of Educational Assessment and Accountability to provide guidance to their mathematics-related projects and to transmit pertinent, timely information to our members. We host an annual state-wide conference attended by dozens of speakers and hundreds of educators.
If you're not already an MCTM member, we invite you to join us by visiting our Membership page. |

MCTM Becomes Self-Managing Organization
As of November 13, 2009, the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics became a self-managing organization again. For the first time in about ten years, the day-to-day operations of MCTM are being managed and supervised by your MCTM Board members. In order to be fiscally responsible to our members, your Board has ended its contract with a professional management company and is now "taking care of business" on a day-to-day basis itself. During this time of transition, we appreciate your patience as we negotiate the transferring of phone lines, forwarding of U.S. mail, and the like. We also have a new part-time office manager, Christopher Berry, to help us through this transition. Please contact Chris to renew your membership or get additional information about MCTM. Our new contact information is also updated on this website. Thank you for your support of MCTM in the past, and we are eager to move forward with your continued support in the future.
