The Michigan Council for Exceptional Children (MCEC) and the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) in conjunction with Michigan’s Integrated Mathematics Initiative (Mi)2 are excited to announce the 3rd annual joint  conference coming this fall.

Making Mathematics Meaningful Through Collaboration brings math educators, including general and special education teachers, interventionists, coaches, administrators, consultants and support staff, together for one day of learning and sharing together.

  • What instructional strategies do you use to address the wide range of learners in one classroom
  • How do you meet the needs of students with disabilities in special and general education settings
  • How do you communicate the needs of students to other colleagues who share in the education of those students
  • What are your tips for successful co-teaching
  • How do you support collaboration through school structure

The Michigan Council for Exceptional Children (MCEC) and the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) in conjunction with Michigan’s Integrated Mathematics Initiative (Mi)2 are excited to announce the third annual  Making Mathematics Meaningful Through Collaboration Conference coming this fall.

Making Mathematics Meaningful Through Collaboration brings math educators, including general and special education teachers, interventionists, coaches, administrators, consultants and support staff, together for one day of learning and sharing together.

  • What instructional strategies do you use to address the wide range of learners in one classroom?
  • How do you meet the needs of students with disabilities in special and general education settings?
  • How do you communicate the needs of students to other colleagues who share in the education of those students?
  • What are your tips for successful co-teaching?
  • How do you support collaboration through school structures?

The committee seeks proposals addressing these and related topics at the second joint conference from MCEC, MCTM, and (Mi)2.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Instructional Strategies
  • Special Education 101 for Non-Special Education Majors
  • Math content for Non-Math Majors
  • Role of General Education and Special Education Teachers
  • Co-teaching
  • Assessment
  • Peer-to-Peer Support
  • Best Practices
  • Research-Based Interventions

Lead presenters and up to 3 co-presenters will receive discounted registration. Collaborative teams are encouraged to present together.
